We are excited to co-organise the Side Event “From Science to Action: Strengthening Conservation and Cooperation for Priority Mediterranean Species and Habitats” in the framework of the 24th Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention.

The event will be held on 4 December 2025, 09:00 – 10.00 at the ASTOR PLENARY HALL 1, THE ST. REGIS CAIRO.

This event brings together leading regional initiatives, ACCOBAMS, the ACCOBAMS Survey Initiative-II partners, MEDASSET, the LIFE MareNatura project, the French Biodiversity Agency (OFB), and the Mediterranean Posidonia Network — to highlight how cutting-edge science can drive effective conservation and coordinated action across the Mediterranean.

We will explore:

  • New insights on priority Mediterranean species and habitats
  • How scientific knowledge can transform management and policy
  • Opportunities for stronger regional cooperation
  • Links between biodiversity, climate resilience, and a sustainable future for the Mediterranean Sea

Moderated by Ioli Christopoulou, Policy Director at The Green Tank & Policy expert for the LIFE MareNatura project.

Together, let’s turn science into action for a healthy and resilient Mediterranean.
