Researchers from the University of Crete-Natural History Museum of Crete (UoC-NHMC) visited the northernmost major colony of Scopoli’s Shearwaters in Greece, located on the islet of Tracheia in the Diapontia Islands. During the expedition, adult individuals—both breeders and non-breeders—were ringed, and genetic material was collected for future analyses.

A particularly important aspect of the mission was the deployment of five radio transmitters, aiming to monitor the movements of the birds from this specific colony.

The first available data indicate that the individuals head directly north, visiting the Adriatic Sea without making any stopovers to the south or, generally, in the Ionian Sea.
