With more than 40 participants, executives, and collaborators of the 12 entities, organizations, and institutions that make up the corporate scheme of LIFE MareNatura, the hybrid kick-off meeting of the project took place at the HCMR facilities, from October 18 to October 20, 2023.
The meeting initially included the presentation of each entity and the acquaintance of the partners with each other, as well as a brief presentation of the project and its actions.
The 2nd day began with a brief presentation of the project’s species, the conservation goals of the marine megafauna from the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, and the status, threats, and challenges faced or expected to arise in the future for the Greek marine protected areas Natura 2000. This was followed by the presentation of the project’s main actions and the discussion of the challenges that the corporate scheme will have to face during their implementation.
On the last day of the event, internal coordination meetings of the specialized project teams that will undertake the field research, project communication, data management, identification and determination of biodiversity “hotspots”, as well as the training of all those involved, were held. The decisions made by the separate teams were presented and discussed among all partners at the end of the 3rd and last day of the meeting.
