LIFE MareNatura has completed its third year of implementation, with boat-based and aerial surveys forming a central part of the project\u2019s work to monitor marine megafauna.<\/p>\n
These surveys are being carried out across the Greek Exclusive Economic Zone, covering a large and ecologically important marine area. They are implemented by LIFE MareNatura partners HOS, MOm, NCC, ISPRA and HCMR.<\/p>\n
By the end of spring 2026, the project had completed approximately 13,000 nautical miles of boat surveys and 23,900 kilometres of aerial surveys. This cumulative survey effort is presented in the accompanying map, which illustrates the scale, spatial coverage and intensity of the monitoring activities carried out so far.<\/p>\n
